Lions In Sight Thanks Rossmoor Residents

Walnut Creek - On Thursday, December 6, 65 Rossmoor residents helped Lions In Sight and the Rossmoor Lions Club unwrap over 12,000 donated eyeglasses in the Hillside Clubhouse. Lions Club thanks all the volunteers for the record turn out. Their assistance allowed Lions In Sight to complete an overwhelming task quickly and efficiently. The next eyeglass unwrapping event will be held on May 7, 2019.

The eyeglasses were returns to Zenni, an online eyeglass company. Zenni, in turn, donates the returned glasses to Lions In Sight recycling center in Vallejo, a program of Lions Club International. The glasses are unwrapped and boxed before being sent to California prisons. Trained inmates use Lions In Sight lensometers to determine the prescriptions, repackage the glasses, and record the prescription in preparation for the eyeglasses to be sent to Lions Club clinics in Mexico, Central America, Asia, and Africa.

Lions In Sight and the Rossmoor Lions Club thank Rossmoor residents for the thousands of glasses they donate every year and encourage them to continue donating old eyeglasses, hearing aids, and ink cartridges throughout the year at the various Rossmoor collection points.
