4/24 Oaxaca, Mexico

On April 18-19, 2024, Lions In Sight volunteers conducted a vision screening in Oaxaca,

Mexico. The volunteers were led by team lead Dr. Lisa Cady and included five doctors, two

opticians, and eight volunteers. Two of the volunteers were Cal Berkeley recipients of the Lions In Sight John Demshar scholarship program. The local Oaxaca Lions Club provided additional volunteers and additional technical assistance was provided by the Lions In Sight associate organization Ceredil, based in Chihuahua, Mexico.

The team screened 1050 patients during the two day clinic. Most of the patients were in great need of vision correction. The doctors identified several astigmatisms that required special attention. Dozens of eyeglasses were distributed during the clinic. Patients with specific eyeglass prescription needs were provided the opportunity to receive eyeglasses from Ceredil.
