The Barra de Navidad clinic went well and had a very good team. It was held in Cihuatlan, about 20 minutes from Barra de Navidad, in a Lions Club facility. Lions District Governor, Ana Lila, organized the local Lions Club operation. The club issued 500 clinic entrance tickets per day.
CEREDIL was represented by Coy, Avril and Abril. Raul and Angeles also supported the clinic.
The clinic saw 811 patients over two days. Major rainstorms kept some patients away during the first day. There were 22 special orders. The clinic had far less astigmatism than at most clinics. The strong optician force helped to find glasses from the boxes for the lower cals. There were 34 referrals: 29 for cataracts and 5 for other conditions.
During travel to Barra de Navidad there was a glitch with the spot cameras being baggage checked. As a result, the clinics were conducted the “old fashioned way” with retinoscopes and no spot cameras. Clinicians will inform future couriers not to check the spot cameras!
